What To Do When HP Printer Assistant Shows Multiple Printers After Updating The Windows Version?

 When you upgrade your computer or network-connected printers to the latest version of Windows, you will face this issue where you will see multiple printers in HP Printer Assistant software. Once you complete HP printer full feature software installation, you will observe two or more printer names in the ‘Select a Printer’ window when you launch the HP Printer Assistant tool. Steps To Resolve Multiple Printers Showing In HP Printer Assistant:

 

To remove the printers from the Devices and Printers folder and set up the printer once again, follow the steps mentioned below;


STEP 1: Get rid of the HP printers from the list of your devices;

Remove the printers from Windows before setting up your HP printer again.

  1. Shut down the HP printer assistant software.

  2. Now, look for Windows for devices and then choose the Devices and Printers from the results list.

  3. On one of the icons make a right-click and then remove it.

  4. For any other icons for your printer, repeat this process.

 

STEP 2: Link your printer in HP Printer Assistant;

To reconnect your HP printer with the printer assistant software follow the steps;

  1. Reopen the HP Printer Assistant once again.

  2. The printer setup and software window will display.

  3. Now, click on ‘connect a new printer’ and then follow the on-screen prompts to finish the printer setup. 

 

STEP 3: Ensure the printer is set as default;

  1. Make sure that your printer is set as default in the Devices and Printers section.

  2. Go back to the Devices and Printers window and then make sure that your printer is set as the default printer.

  3. In case, your printer icon does not have a green checkmark, then right-click the icon and set it as default.


STEP 4: Reboot your printer and computer;

  1. After reinstalling the driver to complete setting up the software in your operating system.

  2. Switch off the printer.

  3. Shut down all running programs on your computing system and then reboot it.

  4. Switch on the HP printer.

  5. Launch the printer assistant tool.

No More Multiple Printers!
